Police believe that Jacita Candelario, aged 24, deliberately mowed down her boyfriend’s 46 year old ex girlfriend in a parking lot of 1245 Dixwell Avenue on Sunday morning.
The victim was riding her bicycle, when Candelario approached in her car travelling at high speed. In the vehicle with her were her boyfriend and her 6 year old daughter. She struck the victim head on and then fled the scene with the bicycle stuck to the underside of her car.
Moments later, police discovered Candelario and her vehicle on Newhall Street and she was subsequently arrested and charged with second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, second-degree criminal mischief and risk of injury to a minor.
Police went on to say that the victim was treated at Yale-New Haven Hospital for injuries to her neck, back and arm, and that Candelario is scheduled to appear July 29 in Superior Court in Meriden.
